The Glamour Bee Goes Off Topic: The Cory Lidle Tragedy
Tonight I must take a break from all things glam. As a Yankee fan, I would be remiss if I made no mention of the tragic event that took place on the East Side of Manhattan today. New York Yankees pitcher Cory Lidle and a flight instructor were killed when the plane they were flying crashed into the 20th floor of a 50-story condominium. Though his time with the Yankees was brief, reports are that he was a great teammate and a good man. Lidle was passionate about baseball and not afraid to speak his mind about things on and off the field.
Lidle had only recently gotten his pilot's license and, reportedly, was at the plane's controls. While questions about why this was the case are sure to mount in the coming days, at this time, thoughts and prayers should go out to his family. He leaves a wife, Melanie, and 6-year old son, Christopher. Cory Lidle was 34 years old.
