New York Fashion Week Spring 09: Gottex

Last night it appeared that I would be 0 for 3 in attempts to get into shows this Fashion Week. I had standing room passes for the Ports 1961 and Gottex shows. Unlike what happened during my Venexiana experience, I arrived on time for the first show (Ports) and stood in line with the other standees waiting to get in. Unfortunately, however, the Ports people decided not to let any of us in! We all had to watch the show on the monitor. I was livid, to say the least.

Thanks to Gottex, my night was not a total loss. The Gottex people did let the standees in and I was able to see my first show of the week. In case you didn't know, Gottex is a swimwear line. The designer for the line is Gideon Oberson. Here's a slideshow of selected pieces:

This was a fun show to watch in person. I was able to see everything really well, even though I was standing in the back. The music was cool, too, especially a jazzed-up version of the disco anthem "I Will Survive." As for the swimsuits themselves, I wasn't blown away. My guess is that, if I were more of a beach/pool/water person I'd feel otherwise. Oh, well.
