Paris Fashion Week, Fall '09: John Galliano

If Anna Karenina had a pulse, she’d be wearing what John Galliano offered up on the Fall runway. His presentation was a wintry, theatrical parade of full-skirts, embroidered coats, and heels with pom-pom details. Although he primarily used a somber palette, pops of red and lapis blue appeared in the Russian nesting doll-reminiscent skirts and schmaltzy hats. The show headed to red carpet territory with a series of liquid silver dresses, including a few sheer showstoppers. I loved his defined point of view, but, aside from some serious Oscar potential, I’m not sure how his looks will translate to the average consumer. Below are some looks from his collection:

Paris Fashion Week Fall 2009 is really out of this world imagination of the designers. They're cool in a way that their are expressing fantasy creativity, although it's impractical during the recession period.
